Night Light

What is it for​

The Night Light function automatically maintains a very low brightness when the daily program enters the night phase.

It can be useful when you don't want to leave the environment completely dark and want to maintain a weak light reference. It must not transform the night into a full light phase: normally a low value is set, sufficient for the purpose but clearly distinct from daylight.

On compatible Season Generator PRO bars the function uses the channel dedicated to the night light. The adjustment is separate from the main light and is managed automatically by the room program.

On the display the function is shown as Night Light.

In the real menu loop, Night Light comes after Energy Saving and before Inspection time.

Configurable parameter​

The screen shows:

  • OFF, if the value is 0;
  • a percentage, if the value is greater than 0.

Real limits:

  • minimum: 0 % (OFF)
  • maximum: 50 %

Default value:

  • 0 % (OFF)

Real commands:

  • UP increases the value;
  • DOWN decreases the value;
  • ENTER save and return to the main page;
  • MENU goes to the Inspection time screen.

Real behavior​

The controller calculates the maximum room level from Intensity' and then calculates Night Light as a percentage of that level.

During the day the main light prevails. When the main light is at zero, the controller can gradually raise the night light to the set level. When the next daytime phase starts, the device manages the transition from night light to the normal dawn ramp.

If the value is OFF, at the end of sunset the room is brought to the darkness foreseen by the program.

Practical example​

With Intensity' set to 80 % and Night Light to 10 %, the nighttime level is taken from the maximum configured for that room. Changing the maximum intensity therefore also changes the actual level of the night light.

Always start from low values ​​and observe the real result in the environment. Increase the value only if the light reference is not sufficient.

Difference from night inspection​

The Night Light is automatic and can remain active throughout the night phase foreseen by the program.

The Night Inspection, on the other hand, is a temporary command used to enter the room and see for the time necessary for the visit. At the end it must be deactivated to return control to the main program.

Interaction with Energy Saving​

The Night Light is inhibited when the device activates the shutdown conditions related to energy saving.

In particular, when energy saving requires shutdown, the night ramp is reduced.

Interaction with alarms​

If the device detects thermal lockout or invalid current offset, the PWM outputs are forced to zero. In this condition the Night Light is also turned off.
