Lamp limit

The Lamp Limit menu allows you to set the maximum intensity that can be reached by the dimmable Lamp output. In this version the item is available when Usage Mode is set to Lamp Only.

The function can be used simply, with a fixed limit, or seasonally, automatically varying the maximum intensity during the program.

Seasonal light intensity​

The seasonal intensity function allows you to automatically vary, over the course of the season, not only the duration of the photoperiod but also the maximum intensity of the lighting.

In nature, the change of seasons does not only affect the hours of light. In periods with shorter days the light intensity may also be lower than in periods with long days and greater lighting.

This function also allows you to reproduce this second aspect in a more natural way.

Operating principle​

The user defines two values:

  • minimum intensity, corresponding to the minimum photoperiod;
  • maximum intensity, corresponding to the period of maximum photoperiod.

Example:

  • minimum period: 40 %;
  • maximum period: 100 %.

SOL-7000 automatically calculates intermediate values.

Therefore, there is no sudden transition from 40 % to 100 %. The maximum intensity that the system can reach is progressively modified day after day, following the evolution of the seasonal program.

During the growing phase of the season the intensity may gradually increase, for example:

40 % -> 41 % -> 42 % -> ... -> 100 %

During the decreasing phase the reverse process occurs:

100 % -> 99 % -> 98 % -> ... -> 40 %

The values are only examples: the actual calculation is performed automatically by the programmer depending on the program used.

Effect on sunrise and sunset​

The calculated value represents the maximum light intensity that the lamp can reach on that day.

If for a certain day the calculated value is 65 %, during dawn the brightness progressively increases up to 65 %, not up to 100 %.

During the full light period the expected level is maintained. As dusk begins, the brightness progressively decreases from that level until it turns off or turns on at night.

In this way, sunrise and sunset are also automatically adapted to the light intensity expected for the period of the season.

Fixed mode​

With Fixed, SOL-7000 always uses the same maximum lamp value.

The display shows:

Fixed max

Use this mode when you want a constant maximum level throughout the program.

Seasonal Mode​

With Seasonal, SOL-7000 uses a seasonal minimum and maximum value.

The display asks:

  1. Season min
  2. Season max

Once you set these two values, you do not need to manually change the brightness throughout the year. The programmer calculates the correct maximum intensity every day.

The variation occurs together with the variation of the photoperiod:

  • reduced light period: lower light intensity;
  • high light period: greater light intensity.As the program returns to the shorter period of the day, the intensity is also progressively reduced.

Use on SOL-7000​

On the SOL-7000 the function acts on the dimmable Lamp output.

It is particularly suitable when the Only lamp configuration is used, in which one or more dimmable LED lamps provide dawn, daylight and dusk lighting.

In configurations that also use neon, the Lamp limit menu is not proposed: the programmer moves on to choosing the dimming profile. This choice avoids applying seasonal regulation to a system where the main daylight is managed by neon.

Commands​

  • UP increases the value;
  • DOWN decreases the value;
  • ENTER confirm;
  • MENU exits the screen.

Why use it​

Without this function, a seasonal program can progressively change the hours of light while always maintaining the same maximum intensity.

With seasonal light intensity, however, the programmer can simultaneously reproduce:

Light Duration + Light Intensity

The objective is to obtain a more gradual lighting management that is closer to the natural evolution of the photoperiod during the season.
