Mains frequency

What it is for​

SOL-7000 controls the dimmable lamp in step with the electrical supply frequency. The Mains freq. setting lets you choose 50 Hz or 60 Hz, so sunrise, sunset and lamp level are calculated consistently with the supply available.

The setting does not change program times, photoperiod or selected tables. It affects only the way the controller drives the dimmable Lamp output during light ramps.

When to use 50 Hz​

50 Hz is the default setting and is normally used in Italy and most European countries. After an update, a controller that did not previously have this setting is automatically configured for 50 Hz.

When to use 60 Hz​

Choose 60 Hz only when the installation is actually supplied at 60 Hz. Do not choose the value from the lamp type or country of sale: it depends only on the supply feeding SOL-7000. When in doubt, ask a qualified electrician to check the installation.

Menu path​

  1. Open MENU -> Dimming type.
  2. From the Dimming type screen, press MENU.
  3. The display shows Mains freq..
  4. Use UP or DOWN to select 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
  5. Press ENTER to save and return to the main screen.

Why the correct value matters​

With the correct frequency, the controller places the dimming command at the appropriate point in the electrical cycle and keeps the lamp response more regular during sunrise, sunset, night light and night inspection. A value that does not match the supply can make dimming less regular. If the lamp flickers or does not follow the ramp after a change, restore the actual supply frequency and check the selected lamp profile.

Neon systems​

Mains freq. applies only to the dimmable Lamp output. The Neon output continues to operate ON/OFF according to the selected usage mode.
